Storm Simply Blot Out The Sun Like Some Super Villains Or A Galaxy Brained Tech Dude Who Wants To Fight Climate Change
Sometimes you just have superior resources
Look, this game was going to be a struggle for the Sun, they were missing current leading candidate for MVP Jonquel Jones, but wow the Storm took no prisoners against their shorthanded opponents and dispatched them by 23 points. The defense was particularly stout holding the Sun under 20 points every quarter but the 4th, half of which was garbaggio time, and forcing 17(!) turnovers. This was the way the Storm want to play, merciless defense leading to fast break points and the starters taking the back half of the 4th quarter off.
Not a lot off deep thoughts about this one so we’ll skip to the scattered observations of
Brain Drizzles
Other than our previous problem that has still not been rectified, Team Pass has been great with a strange quirk. During the commercial breaks the service plays completely random highlights from various other WNBA games. These are not highlights of other games happening at the same time or even necessarily continuous highlights of one single game, just random smatterings of three pointers, layups, and buzzer beaters. It isn’t even a highlight package narrated by one specific voice, just the spliced play-by-play of the original broadcast who’s volume of is always like 5 notches higher than that of the game I’m watching. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN? Who picks these highlights? What deranged editing intern stitches these basketball Frankenstein’s Monsters of packages together?
CONGRATULATIONS KIANA WILLIAMS! Graduating from college and scoring your fist WNBA points all on the same day! Even though you still look like a miniature version of an WNBA player out there and I doubt you’ll get meaningful minutes the entire year, this was still a rad accomplishment.
Sue Bird march to 3000 assists watch is currently at 2961.
Stewie was real good in front of the somewhat sparse home Connecticut crowd, hitting from all three levels and removing the minor doubts that lingered deep in the cobweb strewn attic of my mind that she might be missing her outside shot this year.
Speaking of outside shots, JORDIN CANADA HIT A THREE! It was about as open as it could get BUT it was an outside shot nonetheless! For her to creep further out of the Jordin Badada-ness (I’m trying to make this stick, I think it works if you don’t try to say it out loud) that has claimed the first third of her season, she needs to at least be a hint of a threat from the outside/midrange. She isn’t there yet, but this was a positive.
THAT’S IT FOR NOW! See you after the first of two against the hapless Indiana Fever Tuesday night!
