Hey! If you’re reading this, wow how did you find this substack I’ve sent to no one? Good job internet sleuth! You’re a real Ashley Feinberg! Anyway, this is going to be a space for thoughts I have about one of the few things that bring me deep and abiding joy and that is the Seattle Storm. If you are unfamiliar with the Storm, the WNBA, or basketball generally this may not be the space for you! Who knows though, perhaps my extremely spastic writing style will make you interested in some or all of those things!
The Storm are great and despite the growing excellent analysis of them and the WNBA there is very little “fun” writing about them, like haha good time writing, you all know what I mean, right? Dear god let you all understand what I mean. I want to write about the Storm with joy and warmth and humor because they fucking deserve it. They are world class athletes and the damn champions of the WNBA!
I know I’m a little late as the WNBA season started like three days ago. I have thoughts about the Storm’s first game where they pretty much put the offseason questions about their current roster construction into the trash can along with their opponents and favorites to win the championship this year The Las Vegas Aces. By the time those thoughts would be properly formulated, however, they’d be more stale than that baguette you impulse bought before realizing that one should not eat an entire baguette in a day (in this world you are a single person with no roommates or one who has roommates and is unwilling to share a baguette, either way you have extra money so you should give it to me or someone else). Instead of those thoughts I made an image to represent the game that you will see below. Despite the literal dunking on that’s happening in said image, the players on the Aces kick ass. Liz Cambage is a marvel and A’ja Wilson rips and I even followed Kelsey Plum on instagram for a bit before I realized she posted A LOT about UFC and I do not enjoy that! Anyway I can never root for them because they are coached by true sports villain Bill Laimbeer, SORRY!
That’s it for now! See you next time?
